Job Description The Dawg Fitness Student Manager schedules, coordinates, and supervises the functions of Dawg Fitness staff, including coordination of hiring, training, and performance evaluation of the student staff and coordinating emergency procedures. The Student Manager is also held accountable to follow all responsibilities of a Dawg Fitness Desk Attendant. This position reports to the Fitness Programs Manager and is responsible to the Student Employment Coordinator and the Payroll Coordinator of the University Centers.

Department DAWG Fitness – Health and Wellness Center

Compensation $13.15/hour The University Centers Student Employment Program Wage Classification Scale classifies this position as Division II, Range II.

Required Qualifications Applicants must be available to work up to 20 hours per week during the semester, maintain regular office hours, and attend weekly staff meetings and events as necessary, including weekend shifts. Student Managers must also attend a SuperStaff retreat once a semester, in addition to monthly mandatory SuperStaff meetings. Some work over breaks may be necessary.

The Student Manager must be able to supervise staff and work without direct supervision. Students applying for this position must pass a Criminal Background Check initiated by the University Centers. Successful applicants must complete Adult CPR, AED, and First AID certification courses *within 8 weeks of beginning employment*.

Certification sessions will be provided by the University Centers. These certifications must be kept up to date throughout employment with the University Centers. Where applicable, Concussion Protocol Training will also be provided by the University Centers and must be completed within the same timeframe.

Preferred Qualifications Preference will be given to qualified candidates with at least two semesters remaining at UWSP.

Education The Student Manager must be at least a part-time student (enrolled in a minimum of 6 undergraduate or 5 graduate credits) and be in good academic standing (cumulative and semester GPAs of 2.0 or higher) at the time of hiring and throughout employment.
