About the job

The JM Family College Internship Program is designed to create an opportunity for college students to have meaningful work experiences that tie to their programs of study. As part of this program, you will actively contribute to your team’s success, learn about JM Family’s companies and culture while obtaining new skills through learning opportunities, networking events and much more.

The ideal candidate will be available to work full-time during the Summer Internship Program (May 24th, 2027 - July 30th, 2027).

Interns will engage in meaningful work and gain insights into specific projects or tasks, providing hands-on experience, and contributing to various department initiatives. They will learn about JM Family’s culture, including our core values: Consideration, Cooperation, Communication, Innovation and Accountability. These core values are part of our keys to success and the skills that embody these values are what drive our success as an organization.

As an Enterprise Risk & Insurance Intern with JM Family’s Corporate Insurance Services (CIS) team, you will gain hands-on experience in enterprise risk management and corporate insurance. You will support insurance program activities, risk evaluation, risk financing, captive insurance, claims management, and relationships with insurance brokers and carriers. In addition to working closely with the CIS team, you will have opportunities to collaborate with and learn from other ERO functions, including Environmental, Health, Safety & Sustainability, Business Continuity & Data Governance, and Risk & Compliance. This well-rounded experience offers insight into how enterprise risks are identified, assessed, and managed across a large organization while providing meaningful exposure to industry professionals, real-world challenges, and JM Family's people-first culture. The internship can provide a strong foundation for careers in risk management, insurance, finance, and business operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Support insurance program placement, renewals, claims, and related activities.
  • Assist with enterprise risk evaluation, risk financing, and captive insurance initiatives.
  • Collaborate with insurance brokers, carriers, internal stakeholders, and other ERO teams.
  • Contribute to projects and processes that support enterprise-wide risk management.

Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a degree in Business Administration/Management, Risk Management & Insurance, Accounting, Finance, Actuarial Science, Economics, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with artificial intelligence (AI) concepts and tools.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite applications.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, along with strong interpersonal skills.
  • This is a full-time position with flexible working arrangements depending on the business need.
  • The ideal candidate will be actively enrolled in a bachelor’s, master’s, or other degree-seeking program at an accredited college or university, with a focus in a relevant field. Candidates in related fields will also be considered. Must have completed at least one semester of coursework
