About the role

THIS IS A 6-MONTH CO-OP STARTING JANUARY 4, 2027 THROUGH JUNE 25TH, 2027. TO QUALIFY, THE CANDIDATE HAS TO BE ACTIVELY ENROLLED IN AN ACADEMIC PROGRAM- NO RELOCATION STIPEND PROVIDED MilliporeSigma is a global leader in life science research and biopharmaceutical manufacturing. Our culture thrives on creativity and a shared passion for advancing scientific discovery.

We are seeking a co-op to join our dynamic Research & Development team. This role supports the Life Science Biology franchise within MilliporeSigma. Over the course of this Co-Op the participant will learn about what attributes are most important in enzymatic materials for various markets, how such materials are used and methods for optimization and manufacture.

They will then apply this knowledge to create protocols and application notes for existing enzymes as well as collaborating in the development of improved versions recombinantly. Key Activities: Technical Data gathering and validation Compare positioning of materials with competitors and identify areas for improvement Gather protocols and use information for key products Draft step by step instructions based on literature Validate protocols in Laboratory setting Gather references, highlight key product attributes correlate data Technology positioning Correlate literature references for key materials by supplier Evaluate quality and characteristic needs by target market Develop standard requirements for biomaterials based on market and application Optimization of Recombinant Enzymes Work with colleagues to identify potential structural improvements for native enzymes Express identified enzymes in E. Coli Test and implement growth and purification conditions to insure optimal yield Validate performance and key characteristics Qualifications: Currently enrolled in an accredited university, pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineer, Molecular Biology, Structural Biology, Microbiology or Biochemistry Must have skills: Hands on laboratory experience with cell culture Ability to evaluate scientific literature and to develop experimental plans Knowledge of laboratory documentation best practices and ability to keep an accurate lab notebook Training with basic laboratory instrumentation and methods such as preparation of buffers
