About the role:
The Artificial Intelligence Intern’s job will be to assist senior engineers with the execution of Artificial Intelligence projects targeted towards image-based quality inspections on the factory floor. These projects may be in various phases: concepting, image collection, software development, and testing. The focus is on practical applications of emerging technologies such as high-resolution 2D imaging, 3D Laser Scanning, Visual AI, and other technologies on the factory floor.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Support senior engineers in the development and execution of AI-driven image inspection systems for manufacturing applications
- Contribute to various project phases, including concept development, image acquisition, software implementation, and system testing
- Manage 2–3 concurrent projects, maintaining clear priorities and delivering results on schedule
- Conduct independent testing of vision systems and algorithms, documenting results with accuracy and clarity
- Assist in integrating technologies such as high-resolution 2D imaging, 3D laser scanning, and Visual AI into factory-floor solutions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand inspection requirements and translate them into practical, scalable solutions
- Apply programming skills to develop and refine machine vision tools and inspection workflows
- Learn and apply best practices in machine learning, computer vision, and automation within a regulated manufacturing environment
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts to enhance inspection accuracy, system reliability, and operational efficiency
Required Qualifications:
- Current rising junior or rising senior (grad dates between Dec 2027 - May 2029)
- Pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or Computer Science
- Must be able to start internship on May 17th or 24th, 2027 and work for 12 weeks
- Must have reliable transportation to/from work.
- Former Boston Scientific Intern
- Experience using a variety of programming languages such as Python, Kotlin, or Java
- Experience doing design projects (multi-semester projects preferred)
- Previous hands-on work experience with artificial intelligence, machine learning, or machine vision
Preferred Qualifications:
- Medical device industry experience
- Able to learn independently about new technologies or platforms
- Able to work and collaborate with team members
- Excellent written and oral communications skills
- Experience with Society of Automotive Engineers, Robotics, or other extracurricular project teams.
