Federal Student Worker - Ceramic Studio Assistant

Position Summary:

The Ceramic Studio Assistant supports the daily operation of the ceramics studio and helps maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment for students, instructors, and studio members.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and organize clay, tools, glazes, and other studio materials.
• Maintain cleanliness of worktables, sinks, floors, shelves, and shared equipment.
• Assist with loading and unloading kilns under the direction of studio staff.
• Organize finished pieces, works in progress, and student storage areas.
• Reclaim and recycle clay and help manage studio waste.
• Mix or prepare glazes and other ceramic materials as instructed.
• Assist instructors with class setup and cleanup.
• Monitor studio supplies and notify staff when materials need to be restocked.
• Help students and studio members locate tools, materials, and equipment.
• Follow and help reinforce studio safety procedures.
• Perform other general studio maintenance and operational tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

• Basic knowledge of ceramics or willingness to learn.
• Reliable, organized, and comfortable working independently.
• Able to perform physical studio tasks, including lifting clay and supplies.
• Good communication skills and a cooperative attitude.
• Previous ceramics, art studio, or workshop experience is helpful but not required.
