About the job
Project Overview
This isn’t just a film project. This is an expedition. We are seeking two driven filmmakers to document a two-week motorcycle and scuba diving journey from Philadelphia to the rugged coast of Maine.
You’ll be capturing a story that lives at the intersection of:
- The open road
- The raw Northeast coastline
- And the underwater north Atlantic coast few ever truly experience
This is about exploration. About highlighting what is true to the heart of Chris, who grew up diving these waters, it’s about connection to the environment and the people along the way. About creating something real. This is diving, Northeast Style, exploring the roots of Chris’ history and the history of the region — for the love of it.
What This Is (Read Carefully)
This is an unpaid internship, built for someone who values experience, access, and adventure over a paycheck.
In return, you will receive:
- Full scuba certification including advanced level ratings
- Personal gear package to keep
- A fully supported 2-week expedition on the road
- Hands-on experience creating a cinematic adventure film
- Direct exposure to real-world diving operations and environments
- All travel, lodging, and on-the-road expenses are covered.
- Opportunities to do this again in different regions if successful
YOUR ROLE: TOPSIDE STORYTELLER
You will be the primary topside camera operator and editor, responsible for bringing the journey to life above the surface.
You will:
- Capture the rhythm of the road — motorcycles in motion, early mornings, long miles relationships between people and nature, especial the ocean.
- Film coastal towns, working harbors, and the quiet moments in between
- Document the human side of the expedition — conversations, challenges, wins
- Shoot interviews and natural storytelling segments
- Work in fast-changing environments with minimal setup time
You will also:
- Assist with audio capture
- Manage footage daily
- Lead post-production editing after the trip
- Help shape the final story into something we can release and stand behind
- Break this down into one longer film, or multiple smaller episodes
- Have an eye on presenting at a local film festival in February 2027.
THE ROUTE
From Philadelphia to Maine, following the edge of the Atlantic: New Jersey coast → New York → Connecticut → Rhode Island → Massachusetts → New Hampshire → Maine
Expect:
- Salt air
- Long days
- Changing weather
- And moments you can’t plan for
WHO THIS IS FOR
This is for someone who:
- Wants to create real work — not classroom projects
- Is drawn to adventure, travel, and the ocean
- Can operate a camera with intention
- Understands that the best moments are often uncomfortable, unscripted, and earned
- Shows up early, stays late, and figures it out when things don’t go to plan
You don’t need to know everything. But you do need to care.
PREFERRED (NOT REQUIRED)
- Editing experience (Premiere, Final Cut, or DaVinci)
- Familiarity with GoPros / action cameras
- Interest in motorcycles, travel, or exploration
- Extreme organizational abilities with he footage
WHAT YOU WALK AWAY WITH
- A portfolio-level adventure film project
- Real experience in expedition-style filmmaking
- Scuba certification + gear
- A deeper understanding of what it means to explore
And if you do this right —, opportunities to do this again around the country and overseas
EXPECTATIONS
- You will be actively filming every day
- Days will be long, and conditions won’t always be ideal
- You are part of the team — not observing from the sidelines
- You must be reliable, adaptable, and easy to work with
This is not for everyone. That’s intentional.
IMPORTANT
Applicants with a strong eye for storytelling and editing will be prioritized.
We are not just documenting a trip — we are creating a film we can actually release and stand behind.
