About the role

As a Finance Automation & Analytics Co-op you will support the evaluation, prioritization, and delivery of business process improvement opportunities using data, automation, and artificial intelligence. Working with subject-matter experts, process owners, and technical team members, the co-op will help document current-state processes, gather baseline data, and assess the potential value and feasibility of opportunities in the team’s project intake backlog. This is a hands-on opportunity for someone interested in working at the intersection of finance, accounting, business process engineering, data, AI, and automation.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Support initial assessments of automation, analytics, AI-enabled, and other process improvement opportunities.
  • Document current-state workflows, pain points, business rules, controls, exceptions, dependencies, and desired outcomes.
  • Gather and validate process information such as transaction volume, frequency, cycle time, manual effort, error and rework rates, data inputs and outputs, system interfaces, process complexity, and potential time or cost savings.
  • Develop process maps, intake scorecards, assessment summaries, preliminary requirements, and benefit estimates.
  • Review the project intake backlog and help evaluate opportunities based on business value, technical feasibility, complexity, risk, dependencies, and resource requirements.
  • Develop evidence-based recommendations to support project prioritization and selection decisions.
  • Analyze available process and operational data to validate assumptions and help measure expected or realized project outcomes.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, automate, or enhance processes using workflow tools, robotic process automation, data solutions, or AI.
  • Translate business needs into clear requirements for business and technical team members.
  • For appropriately scoped projects, support or co-own requirements, solution design, development or configuration, testing, user acceptance testing, deployment, and early production support.
  • Assist with test-case development, defect tracking, stakeholder demonstrations, training materials, and solution documentation.
  • Follow applicable data privacy, information security, financial control, and solution-development standards.
  • Communicate findings, recommendations, project status, and technical concepts clearly to both business and technical audiences.

Required qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business/ Business Analytics, Information Systems, or Data Analytics with the graduation date of December 2027 or May 2028.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (i.e. working with structured data and using tools such as Microsoft Excel to organize, analyze, and interpret information).
  • Be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from 300 Boston Scientific Way, Marlborough, MA 01752.
  • Must be available to start on Jan. 11, 2027, and commit to a full minimum six-month co-op program.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience or coursework in finance, accounting, business analysis, process improvement, or automation.
  • Familiarity with automation, data analysis, or programming tools such as Power Automate, Power BI, SQL, Excel, or Python.
  • Understanding of AI, ERP systems, Agile methodologies, or technical solution development.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across teams, manage priorities, and learn new technologies.
