About the role
The HUB Advisor serves as a key member of the HUB Student Success Center within the College of Arts and Sciences, providing comprehensive academic advising and student support services that promote student persistence, engagement, and degree completion. This position manages an assigned caseload of students and provides proactive advising, academic planning, and resource navigation throughout the student lifecycle.
The HUB Advisor works closely with students, faculty advisors, academic departments, and campus partners to support student success initiatives. Through individualized advising, referrals, programming, and outreach efforts, the HUB Advisor helps students understand degree requirements, overcome barriers to success, engage in campus opportunities, and progress toward graduation.
*Academic Advising and Student Support*
- Manages an assigned caseload of students in designated academic program areas
- Proactively engages students throughout each semester to support academic success and retention
- Anticipates potential barriers to student success and provides appropriate guidance and referrals
- Meets with assigned students during designated advising periods and as needed throughout the academic year
- Assists students with understanding degree requirements, concentration and minor options, university policies, registration processes, and academic planning
- Develops and maintains academic plans that support timely degree completion
- Maintains accurate advising records and documentation using university advising platforms
- Serves as a resource and guide for students seeking assistance with academic and university-related concerns
- Collaborates with departmental and faculty advisors to support student progression and retention
- Connects students with campus resources, co-curricular opportunities, and community engagement activities
- Supports students through graduation preparation, required paperwork, and commencement planning
- Provides professional, responsive, and student-centered service to all students utilizing HUB services
*Programming and Student Engagement*
- Participates in career readiness and student success programming initiatives within the College of Arts and Sciences
- Supports seminars, workshops, and group advising sessions
- Assists with new student and transfer student orientation programs
- Presents information to incoming students and families regarding academic requirements and university resources
- Supports pre-registration and onboarding activities for new students
*Departmental Support*
- Participates in special projects, committee work, and student success initiatives
- Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned in support of departmental and institutional goals

- Ability to provide effective academic advising and student support services
- Ability to build positive relationships with students from various backgrounds
- Knowledge of student development principles and retention strategies
- Ability to interpret and apply academic policies, procedures, and degree requirements
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation
- Skill in organizing and managing multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail
- Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and campus partners
- Knowledge of student information systems, advising technologies, and Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and provide exceptional customer service

Minimum
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience providing student support, advising, customer service, education, counseling, or related services
- Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience that provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered
Preferred
- Master’s degree
- Experience working directly with college students in academic advising, student affairs, higher education, or a related field
- Experience using student information systems, advising platforms, and Microsoft Office applications
- Knowledge of university policies, academic programs, and student success initiatives

Compensation and Benefits
- UT Market Range: MR07
- Hiring Salary: $47,250 - $50,000
