Overview The Process Engineering Co-op will support continuous improvement initiatives, process optimization projects, and operational excellence activities within the organization. This role will work onsite at our Madison plant and provide hands-on experience in analyzing manufacturing and business processes, collecting and evaluating data, and implementing solutions that improve productivity, quality, safety, and cost performance. Learning Opportunities Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
Data-driven decision making. Cross-functional project management Sample Projects OEE improvement initiatives. Scrap reduction projects.
Time studies of new products and product lines. Support the launch of new SKUs and products. Organize data and run daily standup meetings.
Develop scheduling system for Laminators. Implement process controls at Laminators to ensure correct materials are used. Create business processes for control of sample runs, materials requests, pilot runs, etc.
Redefine and own centerline and pink tag process for improved adherence and ease of use. Our co-op program provides the opportunity to connect with industry professionals, expand their network, and build essential problem‑solving and communication skills that set them up for early‑career success. Students must be able to commit to a six‑month term spanning January–July 2027.
Students must be able to be 100% onsite at our Madison, WI Plant location. Co-Op will result in academic credit based on each student’s specific university co‑op policies.
Responsibilities Assist with process analysis and improvement projects using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies. Collect, organize, and analyze production, quality, and operational data. Perform time studies, workflow analysis, and labor utilization assessments.
Support development and maintenance of standard work instructions and process documentation. Identify opportunities to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and optimize resource utilization. Participate in root cause investigations and corrective action activities.
Create reports, presentations, and dashboards to communicate project results and KPIs.
Qualifications Authorization to work in United States required. Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Operations Engineering, or related discipline. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Minitab, Time Studies, or ERP systems.
