Job Summary
The successful intern(s) will be working under the direction of a Supervisor/Mentor. This role is responsible for the design of overhead and underground electric distribution systems, material allocation, time and cost estimates for the construction and maintenance of subdivisions as well as relocation of distribution facilities for customers within assigned areas.
Design distribution facilities based on customer load requirements and existing facilities. Inspect work request job sites, determine metering requirements and prepare sketches of property and service agreements. Prepare cost estimates based on design of new construction or modification. Prepare joint use notification CATV permits, underground agreements, revenue calculations, etc. Determine tree-trimming requirements and initiates activity. Obtain right-of-way and easement agreements and highway/railroad permits. Communicate electrical/construction requirements to customers. Assist in service restoration in the field during outages.
Duties and responsibilities will be up to 60% in the office and up to 40% in the field.
Perform other duties as request.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
- Basic computer skills and proficiency in software software applications including Microsoft Office. AutoCad experience preferred.
- Verbal, written and interpersonal communication; time management and organization; math and technical aptitude.
- Effectively interact with customers; work in a team; attention to detail; understand and apply work flow process.
- Physical attributes to perform essential function of the job in the field and during storm trouble - walking, climbing, stooping, bending and prolonged standing.

Education Requirements
- Must be enrolled in 4-year program or in a 2-year program.
- Preferred degrees: Eng Tech, Const Mgmt, Business, Education, Liberal Arts
- Interest in Building and Construction project management a plus.
- Must have a graduation date of Spring 2028 or later.
- Must have a 2.5 GPA or greater.
- Valid driver's license is required.
