About the job

Expand Your World

World Trade Center Northern California (WTCNC) offers competitive internship and volunteer programs that connect students, recent graduates, and other community members with the dynamic world of global trade, international relations, and California business development.

Broaden Your Horizons

As an intern at World Trade Center Northern California, or our divisions Global Ties Sacramento and Global Ties San Francisco, you will expand on your educational background while gaining valuable real-world experience and strong professional connections. Interns and volunteers have a unique opportunity to interact with international emerging leaders, conduct trade research, support programs for foreign diplomats, and participate in the daily operations of the region’s preeminent non-profit organization responsible for promoting international trade and citizen diplomacy. The descriptions below will help serve as a baseline for each program. Internship positions are unpaid unless otherwise specified, but we encourage prospective interns to coordinate with university advisers to receive course credit.

Requirements:

Please consult with your college or university for specific internship course requirements. In general, internships are one academic quarter or semester with an average time committment of 12 hours per week. Applicants with a field of study in international relations, economics, policy, business or marketing may receive priority consideration.

International Visitors Programming Intern

This unpaid internship is a unique opportunity for you to expand your knowledge of global diplomacy, international culture, and the diverse work of the vibrant organizations in the greater Sacramento region that attract nearly 500 international delegates each year. Interns in this position support the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), the U.S. Department of State’s premier professional exchange program that seeks to build mutual understanding between the U.S. and other nations through carefully designed short-term visits to the U.S. for current and emerging foreign leaders.
