Work Based Learning (WBL) & Internship Opportunities

The Colorado Department of Early Childhood recognizes that working experience is vital and valuable in the current job market. So what do you do, when you don’t have the proper experience for the jobs you're interested in? For this reason, we have created an internship program to help citizens gain that working experience, while also serving the Colorado State Government.

Our internship programs provide students and early career professionals with the opportunity to gain valuable work place experience through: specific field training, internships, state training, networking opportunities, and the chance to apply classroom theory to real life situations. The experience can also be used to receive academic credit for your university(if applicable). There are a variety of different fields of experience that you can obtain during the tenure of your internship here including: accounting, marketing and communications, information technology, and more. Best of all, this is experience that can be used when looking for other possible jobs in the future!

During this program you will receive valuable mentorship and state public service experience. Each intern is placed with a supervisor or mentor. Your mentor will regularly have one on one meetings with you to help support your professional journey, provide clarification on internship expectations, and provide coaching / feedback for performance improvement.

Our internship program is flexible when it comes to time commitment, location, and for how long an internship will run. We strive to tailor and provide a quality experience for all prospective interns.
