About the role

The Wertz & Company Internship Program provides aspiring accounting professionals with hands-on experience in a dynamic and professional environment. This structured program offers interns the opportunity to develop technical skills, gain exposure to real-world accounting practices, and work alongside experienced professionals. Duration and Schedule Start Date: Jan 6, 2027 End Date: May 15, 2027 Program Length: 15 weeks (contingent on school schedule) Hours: Part-time, 20 hours/wk.

Eligibility and Qualifications Currently enrolled in an accredited Accounting, Finance, or Business program (Junior, Senior, or master’s level preferred) Strong academic record with coursework in financial accounting, auditing, and tax Prepared to learn Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Program Objectives Provide exposure to audit, tax, and advisory services Introduce technical competencies in financial statement preparation, tax return processing, and data analysis Enhance professional communication and teamwork skills Offer networking opportunities with professionals and firm leadership

Key Responsibilities Assist with preparing tax returns, tax documents and administrative procedures Support audit teams in conducting testing and risk assessments Perform data analysis, reconciliations, and research on accounting regulations Participate in client meetings and training sessions Collaborate with mentors on assigned projects and firm initiatives Training and Mentorship Orientation and training sessions covering firm policies, accounting standards, and software tools Assigned mentor or supervisor for guidance and performance feedback Weekly professional development sessions on topics such as ethics, industry trends, and career growth Evaluation and Career Opportunities Performance reviews at midpoint and end of internship Potential for full-time employment upon successful completion of the program
