About the role
IT Network Student Worker Under supervision of the Department of Information Technology, the incumbent in this position will provide broad networking and telecommunications support for the LSUHSC-NO Networking group, including installation of networking and telecommunications equipment, maintenance of inventory databases, and generation of knowledge-based articles for complex networking and telecommunication procedures. The incumbent will also interact with customers on front-facing network and telecommunication projects. The incumbent will perform the following specific examples of work : 35% - Assist with Configuration, Deployment, and Documentation of all LSUHSC-NO network communication systems.
This includes Tier 1/Level 1 troubleshooting to ensure the stability and reliability of network communication. 35% - Assist with Configuration, Deployment, and Documentation of all LSUHSC-NO voice communication systems. This includes Tier 1/Level 1 troubleshooting to ensure the stability and reliability of voice communication. 30% - Other duties related to the upkeep of LSUHSC-NO network and voice systems. These duties could include inventory, surplus of unneeded equipment, network and voice closet maintenance, UPS battery management, and research of new applications, devices, or technologies to enhance services provided by the network and telecommunications groups.
Qualification Requirements: The candidate must be an undergraduate student, preferably majoring in Computer Science or a related Information Technology field with experience interacting with users of computer systems.
Experience utilizing software packages such as Microsoft Office Suite and the Adobe Software Suite is also preferred.
