Who we are
Kirker Davis LLP is a boutique family law firm serving clients throughout Central Texas. We represent professionals, business owners, and families in complex divorces, high-conflict custody matters, and other sophisticated family-law litigation.
Our work often involves closely held businesses, substantial assets, demanding discovery, and sensitive issues that require exceptional preparation, sound judgment, and responsive client service. We are committed to the practice of law and to delivering a highly personalized, concierge-level client experience that makes a meaningful difference for the individuals and families we serve.
Legal Internship Program
Kirker Davis LLP’s Legal Internship Program provides highly qualified candidates with practical, full-time experience in the day-to-day operations and litigation work of a sophisticated boutique family law firm. Legal Interns contribute to the systems, teamwork, and client service that support complex family-law matters while developing a practical foundation in legal support and law-firm operations.
The program is designed for highly capable recent graduates seeking rigorous professional experience before law school or while exploring careers in legal operations, legal marketing, legal technology, business operations, or other professional-services fields. Interns gain exposure to the discipline, responsiveness, attention to detail, and sound judgment required in a high-performing litigation environment.
Responsibilities
- Legal Interns assist with administrative, operational, and case-support work that is essential to the firm’s day-to-day operations and litigation practice. Responsibilities may include:
- Organizing electronic and physical case files, monitoring calendars, tracking deadlines, and documenting correspondence.
- Entering and maintaining information in case files and case-management software.
- Providing office and team support, including cross-coverage for teammates, answering phones, and supporting front-desk and back-office operations.
- Preparing and organizing materials for mediations, hearings, discovery, responses, and filings under the guidance of attorneys and paralegals.
- Supporting executive, administrative, legal-operations, and other special projects as needed.
Training & Supervision
Legal Interns receive structured onboarding and orientation covering firm policies, workflows, technology, and available resources. Training materials, checklists, manuals, and direct guidance help interns build proficiency and take ownership of their responsibilities.
Interns receive task-level supervision from experienced staff, participate in weekly huddles, and receive regular feedback and professional-development support from firm leadership. They work alongside fellow interns, long-term staff, paralegals, and attorneys in a collaborative environment where their work supports both case preparation and firm operations.
Career Development
The program helps interns build strong habits in organization, communication, client service, case management, and professional judgment. Interns gain firsthand exposure to the standards of service and preparation required in boutique family-law litigation, creating a strong foundation for law school, future clerkships, and careers in legal or business operations.
Candidates begin as Legal Interns in a *seasonal* role. Continued internships and advancement are not guaranteed and depend on performance. Successful Legal Interns who anticipate *at least one year* of availability may be offered an opportunity to continue in a full-time Legal Assistant position. Successful Legal Interns who anticipate *at least two years* of availability may be offered a longer-term development path to Legal Assistant and, later, Paralegal.
Candidates
The program is a strong fit for:
- Candidates who can work full-time onsite.
- Candidates seeking substantial responsibility in a fast-paced litigation setting.
- Recent graduates with excellent academic records from selective universities.
- Candidates taking one or more gap years before law school.
- Candidates interested in paralegal, legal operations, legal marketing, legal technology, business operations, or other professional-services careers.
- Hourly compensation varies based on responsibilities, qualifications, experience, and other relevant factors.
