About the role
Basic Function
The Millwright Apprentice supports day-to-day maintenance at the Matagorda plant, located 13 miles south of Bay City, Texas. The selected candidate(s) will be part of the maintenance team and will work under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisors, Team Leads, and Management. All work will be performed with oversight from a designated site Technician 4.
Anticipated Internship Dates: January 11, 2027, through May 7, 2027
Roles & Responsibilities
- Communicating effectively during the shift regarding key equipment information
- Performing routine plant maintenance as instructed
- Ensuring accurate and timely completion of all required paperwork
- Performing maintenance duties in accordance with local maintenance procedures
- Completing mandated safety and regulatory training (Computer-Based Training)
- Maintaining effective and professional relationships with all coworkers and responding appropriately to their requests
- Following safety rules, participating in a GoalZERO culture
- Being responsible for their performance and progress
- Demonstrate improved performance based on feedback from Specialist, SME or Maintenance Supervisor
Min. Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- 18 years of age or older
- Must have completed at least two semesters in a Machine Tool Technology degree plan from an accredited school
- Must maintain an overall and semester grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale
- Must have a valid driver’s license and must provide own transportation to and from work
- Willing and able to work outside under various weather conditions
- Able to work 10-hour shifts, Monday-Thursday 6:30am-5:00pm
- Capable of climbing (scaffolds, towers, vessels, etc.), working in a confined space and from elevated platforms, and lift up to 50 pounds
- Able to wear appropriate protective equipment
- Possess the critical competencies for this position: communication, teamwork, problem solving and decision-making, results orientation, initiative, relationship building, and technological orientation
- Basic computer skills are a requirement for this position
- Must successfully pass pre-employment screening process, including fitness-for-duty requirements
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without visa sponsorship (U.S. citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident)
