Job Description CDM Smith is looking for an enthusiastic undergraduate Intern to join our team for the summer of 2027 in Fairfax, VA! In this role, you’ll work on a variety of high-profile opportunities on large programs supporting EPA, FEMA, and other federal/state/local agencies on projects such as Lead Service Line inventory and replacement, Emergency Management and Hazard Mitigation, and other water resources-related activities. Under the direction of engineering and planning management staff, this position will: Assist with collection, evaluation, and presentation of client, industry, and market data, including research of primary sources to clarify questions or discrepancies, and communicate or escalate issues as needed.

Support development of internal and external facing documentation. Support Quality Control reviews and revisions, as needed. Prepare analysis, summaries and presentation material based on the above tasks.

Ideal candidate for our Summer 2027 Internship is available to start Monday, May 17 or June 14th .

Qualifications High School Diploma is required. Currently enrolled in technical academic program, associates or enrolled in or starting a bachelors program

Preferred Qualifications Preferred candidate is enrolled in Bachelors or Masters program in Engineering, Planning, Environmental or Water Resources studies. General proficiency in MS Excel and Word. Amount of Travel Required 10% or less Driving

Pay Range Information CDM Smith is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. This pay range is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels for the geographic location assigned to the position. In addition to geographic location, a candidate’s salary is determined by several other factors including, but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, relevant work experience, skills, required certifications, and education/training.

Compensation All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
