As the Manufacturing Engineer Intern, you will support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, and operational efficiency. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze manufacturing processes, collect and evaluate production data, and assist in implementing improvements that support business objectives. This role provides exposure to manufacturing engineering principles, lean manufacturing techniques, and project management while working on real-world initiatives that drive measurable results.

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:

Manufacturing Engineering & Continuous Improvement

• Conduct time studies and work measurement analyses to identify opportunities for improved efficiency and productivity.
• Assist in analyzing manufacturing processes, workflows, and material movement throughout the facility.
• Support lean manufacturing initiatives including 5S, Kaizen events, and waste reduction projects.
• Collect, organize, and analyze production data to identify trends and recommend improvements.
• Assist with capacity analysis, labor utilization studies, and process optimization projects.
• Participate in layout evaluations and workflow improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
• Develop and maintain standard work documentation, process maps, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Support root cause analysis and corrective action activities related to production issues.
• Work with operations, quality, maintenance, and engineering teams on continuous improvement initiatives.
• Assist in implementing manufacturing process improvements and monitoring project results.
