About the role

WWU Dining is looking for creative, curious, and motivated Marketing Interns ready to learn by doing and bring their perspective to the team. Working alongside the Marketing Manager and Marketing Coordinator, interns will gain hands-on experience across content creation, graphic design, photography and video, events and promotions, student engagement, and marketing research while helping bring Dining marketing initiatives to life across campus.

What You’ll Do

  • Create graphics and marketing materials for Dining events, promotions, signage, social media, and other marketing channels.
  • Capture engaging photography and short-form video at Dining locations and events using smartphones and, when appropriate, DSLR equipment.
  • Ideate and draft content for platforms such as Instagram and TikTok, including opportunities to participate in and appear in content.
  • Support the planning and execution of Dining campaigns, promotions, special events, giveaways, and other marketing initiatives.
  • Staff tabling events, pop-ups, and campus activations, engaging directly with students to promote WWU Dining programs and services.
  • Gather student feedback and bring a student perspective to marketing conversations, helping identify trends, interests, and opportunities.
  • Coordinate the distribution of marketing collateral and regularly visit Dining locations to ensure signage and promotional materials are current, accurate, and appropriately displayed.
  • Review campaign and social media performance to help the team understand what is resonating with students.

What We’re Looking For

  • Creative, curious, organized, and dependable with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable engaging directly with students and staff through events, tabling, interviews, and content creation.
  • Comfortable creating and participating in photo and video content for platforms such as Instagram and TikTok, with an interest in current digital and social trends.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage assigned tasks and deadlines.
  • Interested in learning about multiple areas of marketing and gaining hands-on experience.

Preferred, But Not Required

Experience with Canva, DSLR or mirrorless photography, short-form video editing tools, graphic design, or marketing and promotion is a plus.

We recognize that candidates may bring different strengths to the team and do not expect applicants to have experience in every area. Students from all areas of study are encouraged to apply.

What You’ll Gain

This is a hands-on opportunity to contribute to real WWU Dining marketing initiatives while building practical, portfolio-ready experience. Interns will:

  • Gain experience across the marketing process, from ideas and creative development through execution and measurement.
  • Build skills in content creation, design, photography and video, promotions, events, and student engagement.
  • See how student feedback, research, and performance insights shape marketing decisions.
  • Bring your own ideas and student perspective to the work while learning alongside the Dining team.

Schedule Note: This is an on-campus position. Some pre-planned evening and weekend availability will be needed to support Dining events and activations.

This is a paid intern position; however, it is not eligible for paid time off (PTO) or benefits such as medical, dental, vision, etc.

Associates may also be eligible for paid and/or unpaid time off benefits in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws. For positions in Maryland, Washington State, or to be performed Remotely, click here or copy/paste the link below for paid time off benefits information.

Because this position requires you to perform services in an educational facility, there may be periods when the Company does not require you to perform work (such as winter and summer breaks when food service needs decline or cease). Any such periods during which you do not perform work on the Company’s behalf may be unpaid and deemed a temporary layoff. However, depending on business needs, you may be required to work year-round, potentially at a different location during break periods. Business needs may vary from year to year.
