Our team is excited to meet you! Job Overview & Responsibilities As a Material and Process Engineering Intern at United Launch Alliance, you'll have the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers and gain hands-on experience with launch vehicle parts, materials, and processes.

Responsibilities for this role may include, but are not limited to: Supporting materials selection, characterization, and qualification of metallic, polymer, composite, and additively manufactured components Assisting in developing, reviewing, and improving material, process, and manufacturing specifications Support mechanical, metallurgical, chemical, environment, and/or materials testing as applicable Analyze test data and prepare technical reports, presentations, and engineering documentation Participate in material failure investigations and root-cause analysis Support evaluation of material properties, compatibility, degradation, and performance in demanding ground and launch system environments Assist with manufacturing process development, troubleshooting, and process improvement Work with engineering, manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and technicians to resolve material and process issues Research industry standards, specifications, material properties, and technical literature Help develop and maintain engineering documentation, specifications, databases, and material and process requirements Participate in design reviews, technical meetings, laboratory activities, and hardware reviews Interns may perform and/or participate in additional activities/events which help them build a strong network within the ULA community and with fellow interns! Required

Education At minimum completed Junior year of college or university by the time of the summer internship assignment. High School/GED Basic

Qualifications Must have a minimum college GPA of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale at the time of application; cumulative, no rounding. NOTE: An unofficial transcript is required if you are invited for an interview. We recommend you upload it to your profile when you apply.

Must have a valid driver’s license and motorized vehicle transportation if assigned an internship in Alabama; California; Florida; or Pueblo, Colorado. For Denver, Colorado and Washington, DC, motorized transportation is recommended.

Role Specific

Qualifications At minimum, actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) field from an accredited college or university. Desired degree in Materials Science & Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field. Must have plans to be enrolled in classes during Fall Semester 2027.
