IMEG is hiring a Mechanical Engineering Intern in Melbourne, FL to work with experienced engineers and consultants on engineering analysis, design, and implementation oversight of mechanical systems for the vertical building industry. This 10-12 week internship offers hands-on experience supporting project work.
You will assist with project work within monetary budgets and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations. The team serves education, corporate, and commercial markets while advancing high-performance, energy-efficient design aligned with MEP2050 and AIA2030. What You'll Do Assist with design portions of mechanical-system projects according to code and IMEG standards. Assist with researching commercially available equipment resources. Support client relations, project design notebooks, and documentation for permanent record files.
Assist with coordinating design and schedules with architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment-supplier disciplines. Assist with documenting design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring project design progress. Assist with reviewing project documents for accuracy and completeness before requesting a final check.
Assist with preparing and issuing addendum information. Conduct periodic job site observations and other services required by the contract services agreement. What You'll Bring Required
Education Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent required Required Skills/Abilities Strong interest in design consulting Proficient with MS Office Suite including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Outlook Skilled in AutoCAD and/or Building Information Modeling (BIM) software Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups Preferred Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred About the Team Our Melbourne based team provides civil, mechanical and electrical engineering services to meet client needs. Diverse market sectors range from state-of-the-art cleanrooms and manufacturing facilities to the largest US indoor car dealership to 15 story+ hotel and condominium developments. Recent work includes Giant Recreation World in Palm Bay and Daytona, FL; Florida Institute of Technology CAMID Building; and Space Coast Credit Union Headquarters.
