The good-faith pay range for this role is $37,700 - $44,500 year. Actual compensation may vary and may be above the posted range based on factors such as a candidate's skills, experience, education, certifications, and work location.

This is a year-round position for full time undergraduate students available to work part-time during fall and spring semesters and full-time during summer semesters.

Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Must be available to work a minimum of 18 hours per week, with the maximum being 20 hours per week during school sessions, and 40 hours per week between school sessions (spring break, summer break, and winter break).

What your job will be like:

Responsible for assisting the Multimedia Photo and Video Specialist in a variety of photography and videography needs. More emphasis will focus on day-to-day people and event photography, post-processing/editing, metadata creation, and historical archiving. Promote a Department of Energy national lab while also contributing to the preservation of its history.

In this job you will:

  • Photograph, post-process/edit, and archive various visual themes and subjects at Jefferson Lab for use in publications, scientific research presentations, websites, social media, and internal and external communication needs.
  • Create extensive metadata for all images for historical archiving purposes.
  • Use, or to be trained in Microsoft Outlook, Adobe Creative Suite, Photo Mechanic, and Final Cut Pro.

Experience

  • Required: none
  • Preferred: Professional experience and customer service skills working alongside VIP guests including politicians, high leadership positions, stakeholders, etc.

Education

  • Required: High School Diploma or GED Full-time college student majoring in Communications, Photography, Videography, or other visual multimedia areas with a GPA of 2.5 or higher.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Wide range of media, including photography and post-production editing.
  • Understanding of manual camera settings, lighting subjects, and/or studio setups.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Outstanding oral communications skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team with others, including printers, copywriters, photographers, other designers, account executives, website designers and/or market specialists.
  • Writing and copyediting skills, AP style.
  • Knowledge of other photography/videography software, such as Photo Mechanic, Final Cut Pro.
