About the role
Description The Learning & Development Intern supports the Human Resources Department in developing engaging, concise, and accessible video-based microlearning modules for incorporation into the library's Learning Management System (LMS). The intern will work with Human Resources staff and library subject-matter experts to identify training needs, develop learning objectives and scripts, create short instructional videos, and prepare supporting materials for publication in the LMS. The position provides practical experience in instructional design, adult learning, video production, employee training, and learning management systems.
The ideal candidate is creative, organized, comfortable learning new technology, and able to translate policies, procedures, and workplace concepts into clear and engaging short-form learning experiences.
Duties and
Responsibilities Develops short, engaging video-based microlearning modules for employees and supervisors. Works with HR staff and library subject-matter experts to identify training topics and determine appropriate learning objectives. Researches and organizes content for assigned training topics.
Develops scripts, storyboards, outlines, and other materials necessary to produce microlearning modules. Translates complex policies, procedures, and workplace concepts into concise, easy-to-understand learning content. Develops modules that are appropriately structured for short, focused learning experiences.
Assists with recording and producing instructional videos using available video and audio equipment and software. Edits video and audio content to create professional, engaging learning modules. Assists with developing consistent visual and presentation standards for the library's microlearning content.
Maintains organized files and source materials for completed training modules. Assists with uploading, organizing, categorizing, and maintaining training content within the LMS. Develops module descriptions, learning objectives, instructions, and other supporting LMS content.
Assists with creating quizzes, knowledge checks, surveys, or other interactive elements when appropriate. Perform other related duties as assigned. Requirements Current enrollment in an accredited college or university program in instructional design, education, communications, digital media, human resources, organizational development, marketing, information technology, or a related field. Interest in instructional design, employee learning and development, human resources, communications, education, media production, or a related field. Ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely.
Strong written and verbal communication skills. Creativity and an ability to develop engaging learning content. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Ability to organize and manage multiple projects. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly PowerPoint and Word.
Ability to learn and effectively use video-editing, screen-recording, graphic-design, and LMS software.
Preferred Qualifications Experience creating video, digital media, presentations, or educational content.
Experience with video-editing or screen-recording software.
Experience creating instructional or educational materials. Familiarity with learning management systems.
Experience creating short-form educational or social media video content.
