Become an Intern

In addition to our volunteer opportunities, we offer a student internship program for college credit. This is an unpaid position for individuals interested in social service, victim advocacy or nonprofit work. It offers valuable experience in helping people through crisis so that they can look forward to a safer, more hopeful future. If you’d like to to make a difference and see your hard work improve the lives of others, we hope you choose to participate in our internship program.

We appreciate all the extraordinary talents of our interns and have several programs in which you can use and grow your skill set. The hours required for each position vary, but we will work with your schedule.

Outreach Program Intern

The Outreach Advocate Intern provides support and advocacy for clients who are not enrolled in the shelter or housing program, as well as any clients that are referred by partner organizations and walk-ins. The services include greeting and assisting walk-ins, handling inquiries, data entry and reporting, participating in outreach events and conducting follow- up calls and referrals. The candidate should possess strong communication skills, multitasking abilities, and prioritize task effectively. They must also interact well with colleagues and at all levels of management, maintaining professionalism while enjoying working with the public.
