Your Responsibilities

As a Part Time Student Software Engineer for John Deere World Headquarters located in Champaign, IL you will:

• Help build and improve data analytics capabilities and web applications centered on customer data and identity.
• This role offers an opportunity to work on foundational systems and services that support the company’s data ecosystem and enable other data products across the organization.

What Skills You Need

• Ideally you will be pursuing a degree in the Computer Science, Software Engineering and Engineering discipline; others may apply.

• Must be registered as a full-time student at a U.S. local accredited college/university.

• Familiarity with web application development.
• Familiarity with Java, Python, and SQL.
• Understanding of basic software engineering concepts, including debugging, testing, version control, and working with APIs.
• Ability to learn new technologies and contribute effectively in a collaborative development environment.

• Graduation date of Spring of 2027 or later.

• Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above.

• Available to work during the academic year 16-20 hours/weekly.

• Available to work during the summer semester 30-40 hours/weekly.

• Must be able to commute to the work location in Champaign, IL.

What Makes You Stand Out

• Experience with or familiarity with the Spring Framework.
• Experience using PySpark for large-scale data processing and analytics.
• Familiarity with Extreme Programming (XP) software development practices, such as pair programming, test-driven development, continuous integration, and frequent feedback.
• Exposure to Amazon Web Services (AWS), data pipelines, APIs, or modern web application technologies.
• Interest in customer data, identity, analytics, and building foundational software services.

$15 - $40 hourly based on published rates for business function and education level.
