Part Time Student - Technical Product Engineering - Ames, IA

Your Responsibilities

As a Part Time Student Technical - Product Engineering for John Deere JDTIC Spray Lab located in Ames, IA but may include project work in Ankeny, IA.

You will :

• Effectively communicate and work in a team environment
• Propose or evaluate solutions to improve cost, quality, and performance.
• Test design concepts in lab tests or in field environments on prototype equipment
• Apply technical knowledge to identify and resolve design weaknesses
• Validate offboard data to ensure data quality

What Skills You Need

• Ideally you will be pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Agricultural Engineering from Iowa State University; other engineering fields may apply.
• Must be registered as a full-time student at Iowa State University
• Graduation date of May 2028 or later
• Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above
• Available to work 10-20 hours/week during the academic year
• Available to work 30-40 hours/week during the summer semester
• Must be able to commute to the work location in Ames, IA on a daily basis year-round
• Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior standing students are preferred, Senior standing and those pursuing Advanced degrees may apply.

What Makes You Stand Out

• Knowledge or work experience in production agriculture (specifically tillage, planters, and sprayers).
• Experience in product engineering (product design, product testing, software testing).
• Create design concepts in 3D CAD modeling applications (Creo, ProE).
• Develop dynamic performance specifications using simulation. (MATLAB, Simscape, Simulink)
• Programming experience (MATLAB, C++, Python, Visual Basic, Arduino, Raspberry Pi).
