About the role
Department and Position College of Pharmacy This recruitment will fill one part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Student Office Assistant position for the College of Pharmacy at Oregon State University (OSU). The Student Office Assistant is located in the OHSU Robertson Life Sciences Building (RLSB) on the South Waterfront in Portland, Oregon. The position plays a crucial role in the main office, serving as the primary point of contact for visitors, students, faculty, and staff, and providing administrative and operational support for academic program.
Position
Duties Administrative and Operational: Greet and assist visitors, students, faculty, and staff, and direct them to appropriate resources Answer phone calls and reply to emails Assist with mail and package deliveries Take inventory and order supplies using the eProcurement System (Workday) Photocopy and scan various documents Assist with exam formatting and printing Issue electronic guest parking passes and validate parking Backup classroom technology support Other general administrative tasks as needed Events/Projects: Prepare materials and supplies for various events Assist faculty with projects (ex: lab clean-outs) Janitorial: Vacuum and/or sweep floors Clean surfaces such as tables, equipment, whiteboards, windows Submit service requests to Facility Services, Recycling, Surplus, Mailing, and other campus partners as needed Take out trash/cardboard Other light janitorial tasks as needed Transferable Skill Development OSU is committed to ensuring students are prepared for success after graduation through intentional skill development as student employees. Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment. Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard.
High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home‑schooling program. Undergraduate and post‑baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term. Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*.
Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term. Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*. * International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered ‘full-time’ by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
Required Ability to provide high- quality customer service. Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently. General computer skills (typing, email).
General Microsoft Office Suite (or similar software) experience. Ability to pay attention to detail. Preferred Prior customer service or administrative experience.
Prior experience with event setup. Have at least three remaining terms of student status. Working Conditions/Schedule Standard office environment with hours within the Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm time frame.
