About the job
About the PowerUP Program At Electric Plus, we don’t just offer internships; we offer a launchpad for your career. PowerUP is an immersive, 11-week program designed to give high-performing students a holistic view of the commercial electrical construction industry. Whether your background is in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, or General Business, the PowerUP program is built to take you out of the classroom and into the real world.
You won’t just be watching from the sidelines—you will be an active participant in the lifecycle of major commercial projects, gaining exposure to everything from the initial bid to the final light switch flip.
What You Will Do The PowerUP program is designed to cover all facets of the business. Depending on your major and focus area, your experience will include a mix of the following: 1. Project Management & Field Operations (Construction Management/Engineering Majors) Assist Project Managers and Superintendents with daily site logistics and material tracking.
Gain hands-on exposure to reading blueprints, schematics, and electrical specifications. Help facilitate the RFI (Request for Information) and Submittal process. Attend job site coordination meetings and safety walkthroughs.
Learn the fundamentals of manpower scheduling and progress reporting. 2. Estimating & Pre-Construction (Engineering/Math/Construction Majors) Support the estimating team in performing quantity take-offs. Learn how we interpret project requirements to build accurate cost models.
Gain exposure to BIM (Building Information Modeling) and pre-fabrication planning. Understand how we navigate vendor pricing and supply chain logistics. 3. Business Operations & Support (Accounting/Business/HR Majors) Accounting/Finance: Assist with job costing, accounts payable/receivable, and project financial forecasting.
Safety: Work with the safety director to audit sites, review OSHA standards, and maintain safety documentation. General Business: Analyze operational workflows and assist with process improvement initiatives. The PowerUP Experience: What You Will Learn By the end of this 11-week program, you will have gained: Industry Fluency: A working knowledge of commercial electrical systems, the NEC (National Electrical Code), and construction terminology.
Lifecycle Awareness: Understanding how a project moves from a concept on paper to a physical reality. Collaboration Skills: How field crews, office management, and clients work together to deliver complex projects. Professional Networking: Direct mentorship from industry veterans and connections with fellow interns.
Who We Are Looking For We are looking for students who are curious, adaptable, and ready to get their boots muddy (literally and figuratively). Current Enrollment: Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Academic Standing: Good academic standing (GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred).
Traits: Strong communication skills, detail-oriented, and a genuine desire to learn about the construction industry. Requirements: Reliable transportation (travel to various job sites may be required) and the ability to commit to the full 8-week program. Why Choose Electric Plus?
Real Work: You aren't here to fetch coffee. You will work on active, high-profile commercial projects. Mentorship: You will be paired with a mentor who is dedicated to your professional growth.
Culture: Join a team that values safety, quality, and investing in its people.
