About the role
Building a Better Internship
Choosing a dedicated partner to advocate for and guide you in your career journey can be absolutely crucial to your long-term success. That's why we ensure participants in our internship program are provided a clear framework to build meaningful relationships, develop collaborative skills, and gain invaluable hands-on experience in a supportive environment, empowering you to build a remarkable career in construction.
The Power of Mentorship
We know that the future of construction is in your hands. As such, we believe in providing meaningful work and ample opportunities to our interns from the get-go to ensure they feel empowered throughout the duration of their time on Team Blue.
No matter your field of study, you will work on real-world projects, collaborate with different teams, and be involved in decision-making processes as an intern at Knutson. To ensure your success, interns are assigned a designated mentor at the start of their internship. This mentor is responsible for providing support in an honest, comfortable, and transparent environment while also encouraging growth and development in your role.
Deliberate Connections
Most importantly, we want every employee – including our interns – to feel assured, inspired, and appreciated throughout their work experience. That's why each intern is given an opportunity to connect with a multitude of important members of Team Blue who will aid in their growth development, including Knutson's leadership team and other members of the current Intern Connect class. Continual meetings are coordinated to allow for ample reflections on work accomplished and goals set as well as ask questions.
Your mentor is also responsible for building a relationship with you immediately by connecting with intention. They will provide you with opportunities to meet with project teams, explore Knutson offices and job sites, and have fun together even outside of standard work experiences.
Internship Expectations
Knutson seeks to continuously develop and shape the Intern Connect program to ensure it creates opportunities for impactful growth for both interns and mentors. Our goal is to provide you with clear expectations throughout your internship to ensure you are empowered to choose construction as your industry of choice when looking at your future career path.
When participating in the Intern Connect program, you will:
- Become a confident leader who can take initiative and easily identify opportunities to take on new tasks and responsibilities with certainty
- Learn how to work beyond your comfort zones
- Establish meaningful connections
- Be empowered to ask questions
- Be able to take advantage of Knutson's expansive professional network
Your Career, Your Opportunity
At the end of the internship period, it is our hope that due to the dynamic and fulfilling experience an intern has with us, they will view a career in construction as a viable and exciting option to pursue after their schooling has completed.
In many circumstances, it is within reason that we will extend an offer letter for a continued internship opportunity or a well-positioned entry-level position to an intern who wants to remain a member of Team Blue.
