This Residential Energy Product Strategy Business Intern, located in Minnesota, will focus on supporting the strategy and experience behind Xcel Energy's residential energy programs and rebates. You'll work with a team of energy product strategy experts to support overall residential product work in addition to owning delivery and results for 1 to 3 key projects in your focus area. You also will have the opportunity to learn more about how Xcel Energy offers its residential customers products and services that help align customer's energy needs with environmental targets and other Company objectives. This internship commitment is on-site at least 3 days a week for the summer of 2027, with strong preference given to those who attend school locally and, if conditions allow, continue on a part-time basis through the following school year.

Typical intern responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Facilitate journey mapping sessions to understand how customers engage with Xcel Energy products and services through digital and non-digital channels.
  • Support and manage clear project plans that guide and engage customers through purchase journeys for residential energy programs and rebates across our digital experiences
  • Collaborate with technical teams to analyze energy data and understand the technical systems that enable our energy programs and rebates
  • Assist with RFPs and other filings as needed

This position is for a May 24, 2027 start date. This position may have the possibility to extend beyond the internship’s initial term based on the candidate’s successful performance and Xcel Energy’s business needs.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Current student, Junior or higher
  • Enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in Business, Environmental Science, Economics, Environmental Studies, Communications, Management, Business Administration, Legal and Regulatory Compliance, or related fields
  • Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week)/ part time during the school year (up to 20 hours a week) and commuting to the designated work location in-person, per our hybrid work policy.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Direct experience with energy products and services
  • Project management experience
  • Interest in energy programs and utilities
  • Familiarity with project management principles
  • Data analysis experience
  • Journey mapping and user experience fundamentals
