Retail Clerk - National Park Inn - Summer Seasonal

The Retail Clerk role is all about providing excellent customer service in our Gift Shop. You'll be the face of our operation, greeting customers, answering questions, and helping them find the perfect souvenir. This summer seasonal position offers a wage of $17.77 per hour, with the opportunity to work in one of the most stunning national parks in the country.

What You'll Do

• Greet every customer with a smile and thank them as they leave.
• Provide information on products, promotions, and policies.
• Describe merchandise and explain its use and care.
• Help customers locate items and make recommendations.
• Process sales, handle cash and credit payments, issue receipts and change.
• Keep your cash register and station clean and organized.
• Stock shelves, maintain displays, and keep the shop tidy by sweeping, dusting, and facing product.
• Reconcile your cash drawer at the end of shift.
• Assist with special events as needed.
• Report any safety issues immediately.

We're looking for someone with a High School Diploma or GED preferred, but not required. Strong communication skills and a commitment to top-notch customer service are essential. You'll need basic math skills and must pass our cash handling training. National Park gift shop experience is a plus, but we'll train the right person.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

This job keeps you on your feet. You'll be standing for the entire shift, moving around the unit frequently. You'll need to bend, lift, carry, and reach above shoulder height regularly. Lifting requirements: up to 10 lbs regularly, 10-15 lbs frequently, and up to 25 lbs occasionally. You'll work in indoor and outdoor environments with temperature extremes. You must be able to read and write work-related documents in English, and communicate clearly with customers and coworkers in a fast-paced setting.

Equipment & Tools

You'll use our Retail POS system (cash register and credit card terminal), as well as a phone and copier. Required personal protective equipment includes gloves.
