Gardener powers SAP's global landscape and is trusted as the foundation for countless enterprise workloads at SAP and outside. We adopt the Kubernetes open-source system for automating deployment, scaling, and management of containerized SAP solutions and business applications. We provide solutions to run and orchestrate Kubernetes clusters on public cloud, hybrid or SAP-owned infrastructures for a variety of enterprise use cases inside and outside of SAP.

Gardener Core & Addons teams are the central group of maintainers behind the Gardener project, serving as its center of excellence and driving its architecture, reliability, and evolution across the entire ecosystem.

We're building ApeiroRA, an open-source reference architecture that strengthens Europe's digital sovereignty. This initiative is part of a broader movement to ensure security, sustainability, and compliance for cloud-to-edge computing. By joining us, you'll contribute to a project that's not just technical, it's strategic for Europe's future.

As an intern in Gardener team, you will:

• participate in the design, development, testing and delivery of features
• do research and prototyping in the domain of cloud computing
• both use and contribute to open-source projects

The major technologies and skills you will learn and master in our team:

• Go Programing Language
• Kubernetes – a cutting-edge open-source container-orchestration system for automating deployment, scaling and management of containerized applications
• Use some of the Cloud-native technologies
• Code collaboration, version control, and CI/CD tools such as GitHub
• The world's best agile programming and project management practices
• Collaborating and navigating in an international environment

If you are willing to challenge yourself, learn quickly and code passionately – you are the colleague we are looking for! And that's basically our only hard requirement, all the rest you will achieve at your own pace with the support of your personal mentor and our team.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Student in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Informatics or equivalent
• Knowledge of any programming language: preferably Go but C++, C#, Java and Python are also great
• Basic knowledge of OOP, data structures and algorithms
• Fluent in English

Experience in any of these is an advantage:

• Practical development experience
• Linux
• Containers
• Security
• Databases

WORK EXPERIENCE
