I just wanted to tell you all thank you for all you do. Because I live on a small fixed income, buying fresh and organic really is a big part of that. I say that I’m a wealthy woman and lead a rich life--I just don’t have a lot of money! The vegetables and produce add, well, a BOUNTY to my life and I’m pleased to give back by volunteering. It’s a wonderful program. I do hope you know how much you are appreciated.

When I arrived in Black Mountain 8 years ago, my daughter and her family were depending on WIC. We heard about Bounty & Soul through story time at the Black Mountain Library. I came to Bounty & Soul the next week, and saw the need to help. I began unloading the truck and helping with setup, sorting, etc. My daughter and friends from story time began attending the next week. I believe in give and take...that is, one must give back in order to take. I continue to help as I’m able. Bounty & Soul provides the footprint for communities everywhere.

Giving to others is a priority for me. Food is essential and so much is wasted. Bounty & Soul gives people a healthy way to eat and be good to themselves. The people who do this work are compassionate and caring about what they do and do an amazing job.

With in-person library services shut down completely during the first few months of the pandemic I felt it was important to find a way to stay in touch with our community. As someone who has gone to Bounty & Soul for produce for a couple years I knew it would be a good fit. The Bounty & Soul staff welcomed me with such beautiful hearts and open minds that I had to keep the relationship going after the library reopened.

I believe in sharing healthy foods with those in the community. Food and nutrition is a passion of mine. It is wonderful that we get the local produce and teach people about how to prepare it.

I believe in Bounty & Soul’s mission to healthily feed people, to stop food waste, and to educate the entire community about healthy food and well-being practices. The organization has a kind and positive vibe. They made it easy for me to volunteer. We share a philosophy. Be the change you wish to see in the world.

I have also been receiving the boxes which have been so helpful. I wanted to give back.

I started volunteering with Bounty & Soul to get a head start into the field I’m passionate in (Environmental Science) and to explore the many aspects it plays in our community. Real time, real world experience and I am glad to be a part of the change!

Good nutrition is a basic human right, and Bounty & Soul supports this by providing free produce and other dry goods at its markets

It feels very rewarding and gratifying to be a part of such a dedicated, and efficient team of caring, generous people who want to contribute to our community and support those in need. Box prep is exactly the kind of work I love....energizing, fast-paced and an opportunity to work together for a common goal where the results can be seen immediately as all the boxes are carried off to the market. The people made a huge difference. I felt welcomed and a part of a family when I started volunteering. It's important to me to be a part of something bigger, and to devote some time to helping others. I also struggle with food insecurity, and I've never felt judged for getting groceries at the end of a shift. Bounty & Soul got me through a lot of hard times in my life, and I feel good about giving back in any way that I can.
