About the role
About Stoneflower Stoneflower (岩花) is a climbing brand built around one image: a flower growing through stone. Our visual identity is botanical — florals, plant forms, Chinese characters — which is not what most climbing brands look like, and that's deliberate. We run two lines: Climbing-inspired lifestyle apparel and gear (direct-to-consumer).
Heavyweight tees and pieces made for climbers but worn everywhere else. Sold through our own store. This is where the brand lives publicly and where this role is focused.
Climbing holds (B2B). We work directly with manufacturers across Asia and sell holds into commercial gyms. This line gives us credibility with the people who actually set and climb, and it puts our name on walls.
The two feed each other. Holds get us into gyms; gyms are full of the people who buy the apparel. Your job sits mostly on the consumer side, with some crossover.
We're small — founder-run and early. You'll see your work go live within days and have real input on how the brand looks and sounds, not out of generosity but because there's nobody else to do it. The role The mandate is straightforward: build an audience that buys.
Not follower count for its own sake — content that moves people from a feed to the store. You'll be the primary voice and eye of a consumer brand in its first year. ### Consumer / e-commerce (the bulk of the job) Shoot apparel on actual people — in gyms, at the crag, and out in the city. Lifestyle first, product-on-white second.
Build content around drops: teasers, launch day, restock, the follow-up that sells through the rest of the run Publish to Instagram and TikTok, roughly 3–4 posts a week plus stories Own the content calendar and keep it a week ahead of the drop schedule Set up and maintain product tagging so posts are shoppable; keep the link-in-bio funnel current Shoot clean product photography for product pages and email Community management: comments, DMs, resharing customer content — and actively recruiting customer content Report monthly on what drove traffic and sales, not just what got likes ### Holds / B2B (secondary, roughly a quarter of your time) Shoot setting content and holds in use on real walls Product photography for wholesale decks and gym outreach Gym features and setter spotlights — content that builds standing with the core community ### Rough shape of the week One shoot day, one editing block, daily posting and community management in short bursts. ### First 30 days Audit what exists, rebuild the grid with us so the botanical identity actually reads, and get a repeatable shoot-and-publish rhythm running. Ideally you'll have shot and launched one apparel drop end to end. What we're looking for A portfolio.
Instagram counts. Personal projects count. Apparel, lifestyle, or sport content is a strong plus.
You can shoot clothes on people. This is the single most important skill for this role — styling, direction, knowing what makes a garment look good in motion. Product-on-white is easy; a person in a tee looking effortless is not.
Fluency in one edit stack — Lightroom, CapCut, Premiere, DaVinci, whatever you actually use. Phone-first is fine. You climb, or you're close enough to the sport to shoot it well.
Knowing where to stand and when to press the shutter matters more than the camera. You think about conversion, not just aesthetics. A beautiful post that sells nothing is a failure here.
Self-direction. Nobody will assign you daily tasks. You should be comfortable deciding what to shoot and telling us after.
Taste. Not negotiable, and the main thing we're evaluating. You don't need previous internship experience or a marketing degree.
What you'll get out of it Direct-to-consumer content strategy from close to zero, brand voice development, e-commerce funnel and analytics, apparel and product photography, and the experience of launching drops on a real schedule with real revenue attached. Plus a published body of work with a named brand on it. If it goes well, this becomes a paid role as the brand grows.
To apply Send us: 1. Your portfolio or Instagram handle 2. Two or three sentences on what you'd change about our current feed 3.
Your school and whether your program grants credit for internships 4. Any prior paid content work, if you have it No cover letter. We'd rather see the work.
Pay: From $17.00 per hour Expected hours: 10.0 – 15.0 per week Benefits: Flexible schedule Work Location: Hybrid remote in New York, NY 10114
