Social Work Intern Providence House Mission Statement: Providence House keeps kids safe and families together, embracing them with support to enhance stability that strengthens communities. Major functions: Train alongside social work staff through observation and co-facilitating services to those inquiring about receiving support from Providence House. Attend training and outreach events also to share about the mission and services.
Location: East Campus, 11801 Buckeye Road, Cleveland, OH 44114/ West Campus, 2050 West 32nd Street, Cleveland, OH 44113 Reports to: Clinical Program Manager Job Responsibilities: Inquiry Referral and Admission Work: Act as the frontline staff answering the phone for clients and agencies inquiring for services Communicate the mission and services offered with fidelity to the model and program offerings Practice strong emotional awareness and self-regulation when speaking to potential clients and agencies partners who are in crisis Practice clear, assertive, and non-threatening communication with inquiring individuals and agencies Maintain confidentiality and utilize the social work team at-large for assistance when needed to determine eligibility for services, intake assignments, and priority admissions. Understand and practice licensing rules and policies pertaining to care, as outlined in DCY state regulations and Providence House handbooks and policy manuals as well as the agency’s accreditation requirements through CARF. Trauma-informed care and Conscious Discipline practices: Practice strong emotional awareness and self-regulation when speaking to potential clients and agencies partners Practice clear, assertive, and non-threatening communication with inquiring individuals Maintain confidentiality and utilize the social work team at-large for assistance when needed to determine eligibility for services, intake assignments, and priority admissions.
Ensure the safety and confidentiality of the children in the Providence House facilities. Report any knowledge of or reasonable suspicion of child abuse or maltreatment to direct supervisor General Duties: Attend all childcare meetings based on their scheduled internship days/hours, and any other training sessions required for ratio-trained personnel. Complete and maintain all necessary training requirements and certifications for direct care employees as defined by State regulations.
Complete all learning plans and tasks assigned by field instructor and carry out all other requirements per field advisor Attend and assist with the organization and execution of Providence House special events including Annual Luncheon, Deck the House, and other speaking engagements or fundraising events as assigned. Strives to be culturally competent and supportive of diversity in both service to clients and through professional interactions. Qualifications: Social work student or equivalent At least 21 years of age Valid State of Ohio Driver’s License and reliable transportation preferred Must pass Background Check and Drug Screen CPR/First Aid certifications a plus Competencies: Strong Interpersonal Abilities and Collaborative Relationship-Building Exceptional Time Management Critical Thinking and Ability to Establish Reasonable Conclusions and Recommendations Adaptability and Flexibility High-Level Integrity and Ethical Conduct Physical Requirements: Candidate must be able to lift 40 pounds without restriction, bend at the waist, grasp, handle, and lift weight overhead, and have mobility in sitting, kneeling, crawling, and running which is required in daily course of work activities.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This position schedule and hours are determined by the college/university program guidelines. Service hours for the student should be contained within the typical business week, Monday through Friday 9 am – 5pm with potential for weekend hours for outreach events Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. In order to successfully perform the essential functions of the job, this role routinely uses standard office equipment not limited to but including computers, phones, printer/copier/scanner fax machine, and surveillance cameras.
