Social Work or Human Services Intern

Position Overview:

The Social Work Intern will play an essential role in supporting MOF’s mission by assisting with direct services, resource coordination, and program support for individuals returning home from incarceration. This hands-on opportunity is ideal for students seeking real-world experience in community-based social work, reentry services, and nonprofit operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist Case Managers with client intakes, needs assessments, and goal planning.
• Provide resource navigation support (housing, employment, healthcare, education).
• Maintain accurate documentation and case notes in accordance with organizational guidelines.
• Participate in client workshops, support groups, and outreach events.
• Collaborate with MOF staff to coordinate referrals and follow-ups with community partners.
• Support special projects, such as program development, advocacy initiatives, or data collection.
• Attend team meetings and contribute to service planning discussions.

Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in a Social Work program (or related field).
• Passionate about social justice, reentry work, and community empowerment.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with diverse populations.
• Highly organized with attention to detail and confidentiality.
• Self-starter who is comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
• Spanish-speaking a plus but not required.

Supervision & Partnerships:

• Interns are directly supervised by a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW).
• No stipends are available at this time.
• Ongoing partnerships with Dallas College and Texas A&M University–Commerce.
• Previous interns have come from UT Arlington, UNT Dallas, and Our Lady of the Lake University.
