Sponsorship & Community Outreach Intern

Job Overview One Event At A Time is seeking a motivated and outgoing Sponsorship & Community Outreach Intern to help develop relationships with businesses and community organizations. This paid internship provides hands-on experience in sponsorship development, fundraising, business outreach, marketing, and relationship building. You will work directly with the organization’s leadership to research potential sponsors, identify decision-makers, conduct outreach, follow up with prospective sponsors, and help build community partnerships.

The intern will support sponsorship efforts for One Event At A Time and upcoming programs and events, including the Zing-Zoom Family Fun Tour planned for 2027. This is an excellent opportunity for a student interested in marketing, business, communications, public relations, sales, event management, or nonprofit development who wants experience working with real businesses and community partners. Previous sponsorship, fundraising, or sales experience is not required.

We are looking for someone who is professional, dependable, comfortable communicating with people, and willing to learn.

Duties Research businesses and organizations that may be good sponsorship partners Identify appropriate contacts and decision-makers within prospective companies Assist with email, phone, and other sponsorship outreach Present approved sponsorship opportunities to prospective partners Follow up with businesses that have been contacted Help personalize sponsorship proposals for individual businesses Maintain accurate records of sponsor prospects, contacts, responses, and follow-up dates Research potential community partnerships and in-kind donation opportunities Help coordinate meetings with businesses interested in learning more Assist with sponsor communications after a partnership is established Participate in a weekly planning meeting to review progress and establish priorities

Qualifications Current college student or recent graduate preferred Strong written and verbal communication skills Friendly, professional, and comfortable communicating with businesses Organized and dependable Able to work independently and meet deadlines Comfortable conducting online research Comfortable using Google Docs, Google Sheets, Microsoft Office, or similar programs Interest in marketing, sales, communications, public relations, business, event management, fundraising, or nonprofit development Previous sponsorship, fundraising, or sales experience is helpful but not required . Internship Details Pay: $10 per hour Hours: Approximately 5 hours per week Length: 10-week commitment Schedule: Flexible Work arrangement: Primarily remote with one required weekly in-person team meeting in the Des Moines metro area Most work can be completed remotely on the intern’s own schedule. The intern will meet approximately once per week with the organization president and other intern to review progress, discuss prospects, ask questions, and establish priorities for the following week.

College credit may also be available if approved by the student’s school. This internship provides an opportunity to gain real-world experience in sponsorship development and nonprofit fundraising while helping One Event At A Time build partnerships that support programs for children and families in the community.
