Internship Program Description
The Museum’s Internship Program offers college undergraduates, graduate students, and recent graduates' valuable insights into the operations of a professional museum environment. Interns collaborate on meaningful and engaging projects with museum staff and participate in a series of meetings and workshops focused on contemporary museology. *Please note: Only individuals who are authorized to work in the United States are eligible for this program.*
Job Summary
The Communications Intern will work with the Communications Department to perform functions critical to communicating the Studio Museum’s mission and offerings to Museum stakeholders, the press, and our diverse audiences. The Communications Intern will learn about institutional voice, communications strategy, and media relations best practices, and will assist with drafting copy for the institution’s administrative, programming, and exhibition needs, as well as perform administrative tasks to support the maintenance of the Communication Department’s records. Applicants must possess excellent writing and communication skills, superb attention to detail, be highly organized, and be able to work independently. Must demonstrate familiarity with social media and online email marketing tools and must be adept at using both the Adobe Creative Suite (specifically InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop) and Microsoft 365. The Communications Internships are designed for mature undergraduate students, graduate students, or recent graduates interested in careers in arts communications, media studies, social marketing, design, or related fields. Application Information
The Spring 2027 season will feature eight internship positions: Communications, Curatorial, Director’s Office, Development, Education, Graphic Design, Public Programs, and Registrar. Applicants are encouraged to designate both a first and second choice for the positions they wish to be considered for in their cover letter. Due to the anticipated high volume of applications, only candidates chosen for interviews will receive direct communication regarding the status of their application.

Dates and Details
Spring 2027 Program Dates: January 11, 2027 – April 16, 2027 (14-weeks) Requirements: 20 hours/week, during the workweek (M-F). Interns must work in-person three days of the week, with Tuesdays mandatory for interns. All interns must attend an in-person orientation day the morning of January 11, 2027, to commence their program.
