This is a student position responsible for assisting in the operations and activities of the Health and Wellness Hub. QUALIFICATIONS The minimum education required for admittance as a student at Stephen F. Austin State University.

No direct experience is required. Training and instruction will be provided. For this position, applicants must be in their second semester or higher at SFA, or a transfer student.

Preferred Qualifications | | | --- | | - Strong verbal communication skills. - Ability to balance and manage multiple priorities throughout the school year. - Demonstrates interest in addressing priority wellness issues for college students on an individual and group setting (one-on-one sessions, outreach / tabling on campus and in the classroom) | ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS | | | --- | | 1. Provides individualized well-being coaching to students who are looking to develop skills in implementing positive change in their health and well-being. 2. Coaches each client every once – two weeks 3.

Increases awareness about health and well-being and familiarize clients with campus resources 4. Assists clients with their well-being goals, including, but not limited to improve study skills, time management, positive stress management and coping skills, campus and community involvement and conflict resolution skills. 5. Engages in personal and coaching skill development. 6.

Greets clients, schedules appointments, and meets with clients at the Health and Wellness Hub or virtually. 7. Delivers outreach activities, workshops and general health information to the campus community. Will be trained through the NASPA Certified Peer Educator program. 8.

Provides office assistance to the department by assisting staff in routine clerical duties and responsibilities. 9. Assists in file and records maintenance. 10. Assists in the preparation and implementation of departmental project/program activities. 11.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESThe individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation. Knowledge of general office and clerical procedures and concepts.

Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form. Ability to accurately prepare and maintain records and files.

Ability to communicate professionally and courteously with university faculty and staff, students, and the general public. Ability to handle private or sensitive issues with tact and discretion. Ability to understand and follow instructions.

A student must be enrolled in six or more semester hours to be eligible for student employment during the fall or spring semesters. To be eligible for student employment during the summer, a student must be enrolled in three or more semester hours or be registered for courses in the upcoming fall semester. Student assistants may not hold any other type of position such as a graduate assistantship or temporary casual employment at the same time that they are employed as a student assistant.
