Job Overview
The Office of Equal Opportunity is looking for an outstanding student to support the mission of the office through a variety of educational and administrative opportunities.
Responsibilities: Under general supervision from a designated administrator, the Student Associate will access, validate, reconcile and report data from various internal and external sources; provide administrative, clerical, and operational support, frequently of a highly complex, compliance-based and confidential nature, to the Office of Equal Opportunity.
- Access, validate, and reconcile data from complex databases (e.g., Census, Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS), Department of Labor (DOL), Department of Education (DOE), and other governmental and non-governmental agencies, associations, and/or related resources);
- Produce on demand data analytics ensuring University compliance with federal and state equal opportunity reporting, and related obligations;
- May write and execute queries and database algorithms in SQL, Excel, Access, R Code, and/or other applications, ensuring efficiencies in the collection, maintenance, auditing, and reporting of institutional, labor, market, and associated databases;
- Develop and update content in PowerPoint presentations and other media;
- Utilize data analysis and reporting tools (e.g. Excel, Tableau, Power BI) to build reports and dashboards;
- Assist with survey design, analysis, dissemination and results reporting.
- May assist coordinating educational programs for the office;
- Perform clerical tasks as needed (e.g. filing, scanning, making copies, sorting mail);
- Professionally answer phones and greet, advise, and/or otherwise assist office patrons and guests, with confidentiality and service excellence;
- Provide other services and perform additional related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Enrolled at a post-secondary institution or a secondary school.
- Enrolled at least part-time (one or more credit hours if at a post-secondary institution), except for summer term, or will be a registered student during the next academic term.
- “Enrollment” shall include:
- The period between two successive terms for which the student is enrolled.
- The one “off” term in each academic year in which the student is not enrolled. Student employee status may be retained for one additional term following either graduation or withdrawal from enrollment.
Additional Qualifications Considered
- Students majoring in Business, Business Analytics, Data Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Law, Psychology, Human Resources Management, or a related field;
- Experience accessing, validating and reconciling data, statistical analysis, and/or producing complex reports;
- Knowledge of writing and executing queries and database algorithms in SQL, Excel, R, Python, Access, and/or other applications, ensuring efficiencies in the collection, maintenance, auditing, and reporting of institutional, labor market, and associated databases;
- Knowledge creating and updating content in PowerPoint, Canva, and other content design tools;
- Experience utilizing visualization software (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, ERP) to create meaningful metrics.
