About the role

This position will work with the Plant’s Engineers and Team Leaders to prepare the candidate for full-time employment in a power plant. During this time the candidate will work on outage project planning, engineering design and review packages, and root cause analysis investigations while maintaining safe work practices at all times. Additional assignments will include time working with the maintenance and operations departments in attempt to gain a better understanding of power plant principles. Other specific assignments will be assigned based on skill set or training needs.

Job Requirements

Working in a team environment to assist in day-to-day activities, including but not limited to:

  • Computer skills–- familiar with various databases, as well as Windows environment and Microsoft toolkit (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Must have good communication and Customer Service skills
  • Demonstrated ability to apply engineering principles
  • Have the ability to understand procedures, programs, and standards within their area of discipline
  • Good interpersonal skills along with strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Possess the ability to manage multiple activities and changing priorities.
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Acceptance of a diverse and inclusive work environment
  • Ability to work overtime hours and extended work schedules including weekends

Education Requirements

Candidates must be actively enrolled and pursuing a bachelors, masters or doctorate degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from a four-year institution (for the duration of their internship)

Candidates must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 (on a 4.0 scale), verified through an official transcript from the previous semester.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates who have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam are preferred.
