High School Internships – Information & Communication Technologies Xcel Mechanical Systems is a HVAC and Plumbing engineering and construction contractor based in Gardena, CA. Our teams have completed multiple large and complex projects at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), and for the UC, CSU and LACCD systems. Xcel Mechanical’s STEM Outreach Strategy is to target schools in the LAX Airport Impact Zone; identify and connect with school administrators and teachers; engage students with curriculum complementary school visits, career talks from role models, and hands-on activities to inspire interest in careers in Information and Communication Technologies or the Building and Construction Trades.

Our targeted program accepts applicants for the Spring, Summer and Fall terms. We provide a practical, hands-on experience that also features the opportunity to learn more about our business and our industry by gaining an understanding of how we pursue new projects, develop engineering and construction plans, and complete large public projects on time and on budget. Internship job description – Information & Communication Technologies: Learn to navigate the company’s Information Technology (IT) Network Learn how to update the company’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform Learn to update the company’s completed-project database Assist with website audits and updates Assist with the company’s community outreach efforts Education/Experience Students interested in engineering, marketing, construction or working in the building trades a plus Entry-level, all interested full-time high school students will be considered Proficient with Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) a plus Key Characteristics Professional appearance and demeanor Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong attention to detail.
