About the role
Unique Skills: About the Position Join the Materials & Process Engineering (M&P) Composites Team supporting Gulfstream's fleet of business aircraft. The M&P Composites organization is responsible for developing, qualifying, and supporting advanced composite materials and manufacturing processes used throughout Gulfstream aircraft structures. As a Collegiate Associate, you will work alongside engineers supporting composite materials used in primary and secondary aircraft structures.
Responsibilities may include laboratory testing, process development, material characterization, manufacturing support, engineering investigations, and qualification activities. Projects may involve: Composite material testing and evaluation Mechanical property characterization Material qualification and certification support Composite manufacturing process development Root cause investigations and failure analysis Engineering documentation and technical report generation Production and supplier support activities Data analysis and test result interpretation The team collaborates closely with Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supplier Quality, Structural Analysis, Research & Development, and Operations to ensure the successful implementation of composite technologies across Gulfstream programs. Typical Majors: Materials Science & Engineering Materials Engineering Aerospace Engineering Mechanical Engineering Chemical Engineering Manufacturing Engineering Polymer Engineering Composite Materials Engineering Desired Skills: Understanding of composite materials and manufacturing processes Knowledge of engineering laboratory practices and testing methods Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Technical data analysis using Excel, MATLAB, Python, or similar tools Effective written and verbal communication skills Familiarity with engineering drawings and specifications Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment Hobbies/Interests: Fabricating composite structures for AIAA Design/Build/Fly, Formula SAE, Rocketry competitions Preferred Areas of Study / Classes Taken: Composite Materials Mechanics of Materials Aerospace Structures Materials Characterization Manufacturing Processes Polymer Science Failure Analysis Statistical Analysis / Design of Experiments (DOE)

Duties and Responsibilities: Essential Functions: Perform other duties as assigned. Other Requirements: Must be enrolled as a full-time student at the time of application and actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher. Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher (unrounded); must be listed on resume.
Minimum duration: 10–12 weeks (summer); 10–16 weeks (spring and fall). Must work onsite; this is not a remote position. Must have reliable transportation.
