About the job

Requisition Summary

The Vehicle Controls Engineering team is seeking a motivated intern to support the development and prototyping of vehicle control functions through model-based design. This role will focus primarily on desktop prototyping activities using MATLAB®, Simulink®, and Stateflow® to develop, model, and demonstrate vehicle control strategies prior to production implementation.

The ideal candidate is interested in controls engineering, system behavior modeling, and translating functional requirements into executable models and user demonstrations.

Internships are scheduled to begin May or June 2027

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Develop desktop prototypes of vehicle control features using MATLAB and Simulink
  • Create and maintain Stateflow logic models that represent functional and behavioral requirements
  • Collaborate with systems, controls, software, and integration engineers to understand feature requirements and expected vehicle behavior
  • Translate functional requirements and use cases into executable control models and simulations
  • Design and implement simple graphical user interfaces (GUIs) to demonstrate control feature functionality and customer use cases
  • Evaluate control strategies through simulation and analysis, identifying opportunities for improved performance, robustness, and usability
  • Support verification of control logic through desktop testing, scenario-based simulations, and model reviews
  • Document modeling assumptions, algorithms, test scenarios, and results
  • Present prototype functionality and simulation results to engineering stakeholders
  • Follow established engineering processes and contribute to a collaborative, cross-functional development environment

Qualifications & Skills
