Project Details:
Intern will work on completing a request for engineering attention (REA), P7 1010, request. Specifics of the REA are to be determined at a future time. Intern will collaborate with stakeholders from power plant Operations, Maintenance, Planning, Technical Services Division, Environmental, and Fuels as applicable to the REA request. They will be responsible for investigating the REA, troubleshooting the problem/issue, develop and evaluate options to solve and address the issue, develop cost and schedule estimates, and propose/recommend a solution. The end product will be an approved REA response ready for the next phase of project creation.
In addition to completing the proposed REA response, the intern will be exposed to and given the opportunity to learn more about Hawaiian Electric’s power generating facilities on Oahu. They will be able to experience first-hand what they are leaning in college and see real-world application of engineering principles. The intern will also have opportunities to observe other projects in construction, learn about project management tools and principles, and about continuous improvement tools and principles.
Program Requirements:
- Must be a current, active student at a post-secondary school (college orcommunity college)
- Must be in good academic standing
- Must be attending school Fall 2027
- Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0
- Must be studying a degree in the area of Mechanical Engineering
