Surgery Externship
Our surgery externship is available from February through October. Students will observe our surgeons performing surgical procedures in the Davidson Surgery Center. These procedures include, but are not limited to, arthroscopies, abdominal, laparoscopic, obstetrics, and more. Students will also have the opportunity to observe nuclear scintigraphy, digital radiology and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
Program Details
Our externship programs are offered during the months of February through October. The minimum duration an externship may last is a week, while the maximum duration is two weeks. Our externships support graduate students and veterinarians by giving them the opportunity to gain "real-world" experience in a group practice setting.
Prerequisites
- Primary professional interest in equine veterinary medicine.
- Preference is given to third- and fourth-year veterinary students as well as graduate veterinarians.
- Reliable transportation to and from Hagyard.
