About the job
Join the Utah DHHS Tobacco Prevention and Control Program (TPCP) for a 6-month internship designed to offer a broad exposure to state-level public health work. We are seeking two interns to support our mission of reducing tobacco-related health disparities and preventing youth nicotine dependence across Utah. In this multifaceted role, you will gain hands-on experience by contributing to a variety of program initiatives based on current priorities and team needs.
Key opportunities include: Data & Analytics: Working with public health data and new research tools to explore trends on social media using AI, build customized reports for local health partners, and design reporting templates for quitting services. Media & Communications: Supporting youth tobacco prevention efforts by helping design, execute, and assess strategic media campaigns and educational materials. Policy & Strategy: Contributing to public health policy initiatives, policy research and evidence-based strategies to address commercial tobacco use and exposure.
We are looking for motivated students who are adaptable, curious and eager to apply their analytical, creative, and research skills to real-world projects. To learn more about the Tobacco Prevention and Control Program, visit tobaccofree.utah.gov.
