Job Summary
Emergency Room Nurse Spokane, Washington. This position involves providing high-quality emergency nursing care in a busy Level 3 Trauma Center with a focus on trauma, psychiatric, cardiac, stroke, medical, and general emergencies. The role requires adaptability and competence in acute care settings, supporting a team that emphasizes collaborative patient management and stress resilience.
Schedule
Night shift hours of 1900, 1100, 1200, 1400, or 0700, with a 36-hour minimum workweek.
Certifications
- BLS
- ACLS
- PALS
- NIHSS
- MOAB/CPI (may start without all certifications as per manager approval dated 10/22/2024)
- TNCC
Experience
A minimum of 3 years of ER experience in a Level 3 or higher trauma setting is preferred. The candidate should have 3-5 years of experience in a Level 3 or higher emergency department.
Skills Required
- Rapid Sequence Intubation (RSI)
- Conscious sedation
- Lines, drains, tubes
- General emergency room skills
Support on the Unit
- CNA/ER Tech support (2-4 techs depending on shift)
- Phlebotomy performed by RNs
- Available resource nurses
- 24/7 hospitalist and RT coverage
Technology/Equipment
- EMR: EPIC
- IV pumps: Alaris
- Medication dispensing: Pyxis
- Bedside and centralized telemetry monitors
Orientation
1 week of general hospital orientation, followed by unit-specific orientation lasting up to 24 weeks; preceptors available with 1-2 shifts for nurse graduates.
Other Notes
- Utilizes a 1:1 model for Critical Acute Patients (CAP)
- The environment promotes teamwork, though it can be stressful, requiring supportive precepting to mitigate stress
- No floating required in normal circumstances
