Underwriting Internship Program - Commercial Lines - Summer 2027

The Details As a USRM Underwriting intern, you'll learn how underwriters evaluate business operations, assess risk, and develop insurance solutions that meet customer needs while supporting sound business outcomes. You'll gain exposure to commercial insurance products, contribute to meaningful projects, and build analytical, problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills while working alongside experienced professionals. Throughout this 11-week internship, you'll work alongside experienced underwriting professionals and gain exposure to the fundamentals of commercial insurance underwriting, including risk assessment, relationship management, and business decision-making.

In addition to hands-on work, you'll participate in professional development opportunities designed to expand your network, strengthen your business knowledge, and provide exposure to future career opportunities within Commercial Lines Underwriting. About U.S. Retail Markets Liberty Mutual's U.S.

Retail Markets (USRM) organization provides insurance products and services to individuals and small businesses across the country. Within Commercial Lines, underwriters partner with independent agents and business owners to help protect small businesses from a wide range of risks. \* This position may have in-office requirements depending on candidate location. We conduct interviews and extend offers on a rolling basis. Our Summer 2027 Early Talent internships are a set 11-weeks in length, with 2 options for start/end dates. Limited exceptions to these start/end dates may be considered on a case-by-case basis: May 17, 2027 - July 30, 2027 or June 1, 2027 - August 13, 2027 Qualifications What you've got You are pursuing a bachelor's degree in Risk Management & Insurance, Economics, Business, or comparable with at least one semester remaining following the Summer of 2027 with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.

You have 0-2 years of professional experience. You possess strong analytical, decision-making, and negotiating skills. You have solid interpersonal skills and demonstrate a passion for customer service.

You must be willing to complete professional designation(s) and continued insurance education post graduation. You must be available to work full-time for 11 weeks. You must have permanent work authorization in the United States.

About Us Pay Philosophy: The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
