EXTERNSHIPS
The Staten Island Zoo offers an externship for veterinary school students working towards a career in zoo and wildlife medicine. The veterinary extern assists in every aspect of the medical care of the Staten Island Zoo’s animals, including veterinary procedures, clinical lab work, and care of hospitalized or quarantined animals.
Must currently be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program or recently graduated. Only students from AVMA-accredited schools will be accepted. Applications must be submitted during your second or third year at the latest for participation during your fourth/clinical year. Preference will be given to early applicants.
